Thanksgiving = Football??!!

Yup. That's right. There we were driving the long 4 hour drive back 'home' to our family, when I said "The best thing about Thanksgiving is the food".
Apparently I was wrong, but my husband corrected me and said "The best thing about Thanksgiving is football". What!!?? Why must sports control my life!! Really? On a day you're kind of supposed to spend with your family enjoying a meal, telling stories, and catching up...
Origin of football on Thanksgiving....
Wife: "Honey, can you help me make Thanksgiving dinner?"
Husband: "No wait, lets turn on the t.v and have no conversation and watch football! Such a grand idea! Who wants to spend time with my family anyway and I'll get out of helping cook, this will help pass the time until I pass out from overeating!!" ( I really hope you guys don't really think like that and I'm sure you don't, this is just an example!).
So we watched football, ate our Thanksgiving meal, and watched more... football!!
Of course I love spending time with my family. Thanksgiving was very enjoyable. Even though we did watch football. I guess it's like a tradition to have an NFL game on Thanksgiving between the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions. Don't worry there were 2 other games as well!!
So it actually wasn't that bad. But I'd still opt for no football. I mean, this football on Thanksgiving thing is pretty time consuming and brutal on the people (Moms and Wives mainly) who are making this huge meal.
I foresee this being my future Thanksgiving day planner:
Get up.
Prepare food.
Football.
Eat food.
Football.
Clean up during half-time.
Football.
Football.
Fall asleep from overeating.

  1. You definitely didn't pay that much attention. :) The Cowboys and Lions do always play on Thanksgiving, however they don't play each other. They each play a different team each year.
