Mascot Makeover "The Happy Huskies"

I love them! Yes that is correct. I love team mascots. Silly, scary, weird and odd, I love them. There are some mascots out there that will definitely strike fear into the opposing team. Literally make you say "Oh my stars! We can never beat them-they have a devil as their mascot!" Then you curl up into a ball and hide in the corner until the game ends praying that the devils don't kill your favorite team or unleash some voodoo devil magic on them. Maybe not to that extreme, but you get the point. Mascots are supposed to strike fear into your opponents and make them cry.
However, I have found that there are several mascots out there that do the complete opposite. They pretty much seem to be a joke. I laugh a little when I see them. So the real reason I'm writing this today is to bring to light that this next mascot is not very scary to me and I think we should rename them:

The Happy Huskies!
Yup, that's right. He looks way to nice and friendly to tear your head off. Don't you just want to give him a treat? A scratch behind the ears? Look at that cute tongue!
Okay, to me this mascot is way to cute and cuddly looking.
Hmm.. how can we make him more terrifying? I have a couple of ideas.
How about a scar on his face. That shows he's been in a few fights and still came out alive. The other guys, not too lucky.
Next he needs a pirate patch over his eye. Maybe he was fighting another pirate and got stabbed in the eye with their hook hand. Or maybe he just wears it to look "bad A". But let's face it pirates are scary. They're dangerous. They have scurvy.
Since our society is obsessed with Vampires, let's make him a Vampire Husky named Twilight.  And last but not least, because he's a "bad boy" with a golden heart I'll give him a gold earring. Here's what The Happy Husky looks like now:
Pretty scary huh? Well, my job here is done. Until the next Mascot Makeover! When another unsuspecting mascot will get to look even cooler than they should be!

I'm sorry Vincent Jackson, but I am for real. And back.

So, it's been awhile since I've been on here! Lots has happened. My husband and I bought a house and we had a baby! She is pretty amazing. And I don't want to sound like one of those parents who thinks their child is really amazing when they really aren't.
But she really is.
Oh yeah, she was a football for Halloween.
Okay, so sports, lets catch up on what's happened since I've been on here last:

Sports. That is all.

Yeah I have more to say about that. Baseball, football, lack of NBA, college basketball, American Ninja Warrior, the list goes on. All will be reviled in the up and coming posts.
But for now lets bask in the joy that is the fact that I know who Vincent Jackson is. Ms. Jackson's son. Duh.

Oops, did I say that?!

So, the other day my husband and I were out eating dinner and it just so happens that there were televisions in every corner of the restaurant. Guess what was on? College football! Tennessee and North Carolina.
I wasn’t annoyed with it, I actually started watching it. Well, I usually “watch” it, but this time I was actually paying attention! Well, I wasn’t paying enough attention to tell you what was going on, but at least I was pretty into it. But at one point the quarterback spiked the football, and I said (out loud!) "Isn’t that intentional grounding?” I think I was just as shocked as my husband was!
First: What did I say?!
Second: What is intentional grounding?
The actual definition of Intentional Grounding is: In gridiron football, intentional grounding is when a quarterback throws an incomplete pass toward an area of the field where there is clearly no eligible receiver. The penalty usually results in the loss of a down as well as 10 yards, If the quarterback threw the pass from his team's own end zone, the penalty results in a safety being scored by the defense
A pass that is spiked does not result in intentional grounding being called. Well, it turns out it wasn’t actually intentional grounding, but the quarterback was trying to stop the clock, so he spiked the football so he could get a play from the coaches. Hey, at least I was kind of paying attention. :) I guess my husband can be a little proud, it’s rubbing off.
Looks like I absorbed some football knowledge, unintentionally. :)

Wildcats win in my heart

Okay, so maybe I like a little basketball. I've pretty much been an NBA fan (Go Blazers!) most of my life. But most recently my husband has introduced me to college basketball. Mainly the University of Kentucky Wildcats. It all started last spring during March Madness. The words: basketball, Kentucky, Pick and Roll, Final Four, etc. were heard daily. Like, what, are they important? :)
Yes I've heard of college basketball and I am aware of March Madness, I've just never really gotten into it. Until I married my husband. This past week I've watched the Wildcats play twice. I caught myself getting very upset when then continued to tie when playing North Carolina. I was even yelling at the t.v. along with my husband. I was pretty mad when they lost. I was a lot happier when they won against Notre Dame. I know I like them because my husband does and I will support him. Not to mention they are really really good! But mostly I think it's
because of their colors. Kentucky Blue and White. I must say I really do like their uniforms. I also like the cheerleaders uniforms too. They are so cute! Very stylish indeed! Of course how could I forget the Wildcat mascot. Yes, I will decide if I like a team based on their uniforms and mascot. What? I'm a girl, that's what we do.

Thanksgiving = Football??!!

Yup. That's right. There we were driving the long 4 hour drive back 'home' to our family, when I said "The best thing about Thanksgiving is the food".
Apparently I was wrong, but my husband corrected me and said "The best thing about Thanksgiving is football". What!!?? Why must sports control my life!! Really? On a day you're kind of supposed to spend with your family enjoying a meal, telling stories, and catching up...
Origin of football on Thanksgiving....
Wife: "Honey, can you help me make Thanksgiving dinner?"
Husband: "No wait, lets turn on the t.v and have no conversation and watch football! Such a grand idea! Who wants to spend time with my family anyway and I'll get out of helping cook, this will help pass the time until I pass out from overeating!!" ( I really hope you guys don't really think like that and I'm sure you don't, this is just an example!).
So we watched football, ate our Thanksgiving meal, and watched more... football!!
Of course I love spending time with my family. Thanksgiving was very enjoyable. Even though we did watch football. I guess it's like a tradition to have an NFL game on Thanksgiving between the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions. Don't worry there were 2 other games as well!!
So it actually wasn't that bad. But I'd still opt for no football. I mean, this football on Thanksgiving thing is pretty time consuming and brutal on the people (Moms and Wives mainly) who are making this huge meal.
I foresee this being my future Thanksgiving day planner:
Get up.
Prepare food.
Football.
Eat food.
Football.
Clean up during half-time.
Football.
Football.
Fall asleep from overeating.

So in love with Troy Polamalu's hair

Yup, its true. I'll admit I love his amazingly huge hair. Right now we're watching the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football and guess who's playing? That's right, Troy's hair. Well, Troy is there too, obviously.
I crack up every time I see the Head and Shoulders commercial with him. Seriously. I don't know why exactly, but I think it's super hilarious. Looks like he and the company both have a sense of humor. Plus, his hair is so full of volume and I don't think I've ever seen any dandruff on him! It really is a great product and a football player with enormous hair endorsing it makes me smile. I'm glad he's taking care of it since Head and Shoulders has insured his hair for $1 Million dollars! Yup, you heard that right!
By the way, I think the advertising worked because I do have a bottle of Head and Shoulders in the shower!
To see Troy and his Titanic sized hair, check out Troyshair.com. Also YouTube.com for the commercial.

Baseball Season's almost over... Part 2

Ding dong the witch is dead! Which old witch? The wicked witch! Ding dong Baseball season's over!!!
As this year's season ends, I figured I would compile some of my favorite characters that have played a starring role.

First off, it's Brian Wilson. Okay, just for a moment take a look at that beard.
I'm pretty convinced that he is a direct descended of BigFoot. Creepy.
It looks like a couple fuzzy caterpillars found their home for the winter.
Also, is it dyed? Is he using Just for Men Baseball Edition Black.
I'm just saying that he looks pretty shady with this beard.
I would not endorse this as 'stylish'.
So....these guys.
They do make me laugh.
Good job fellas.

These players have names that got my attention. And make me laugh:
Milton Bradley and Coco Crisp (whom I often call Coco Crispy)
Really? Is this by coincidence or were your parents just huge fans of board games and cereal.

So...I'm still not sure what this is. A futuristic animal? Mostly I'm wondering if I should  be concerned that it appears to be multiplying.

That's it for now. I'm excited to see what next years baseball season brings.
I'm kidding of course.
